Teams : Ongar Cricket Club
Saturday 1st XI
Captain :
Rakesh Bagga
Flamboyant left handed top order batsmen, left arm opening bowler and when the feeling is right a left arm spinner who turns the ball both ways.
Took on the role of Club Secretary in 2008
Vice Captain :
David Coles
Right hand batsman.
Regular opener and Vice-Captain for the first eleven and able to deputise as wicketkeeper. Prolific run scorer and an excellent gulley fielder. Can bowl in very desperate situations. Recently gone a bridge too far on Sundays and has also become a landlord.
Players
Jamie Abbott
Left handed opening batsman who likes to get on with it, also who desnt have much luck when it comes to Umpires giving doggy LBW's, Joined Ongar in 2008 after 12 years at Old Parkonians of which 2 years where as 1st team captain. Also right arm medium fast bowler and I hate losing . Nicknames so far are Russ and Zammo
Matthew Adcock
right hand bat, right hand bowler, handy with both. nick named madcock (work it out from my name)
Sam Adcock
Mick Ayres
Right hand batsman. Right arm fast bowler. Mild mannered top order batsman who never throws his wicket away. An accumulator of many runs who can bat for an entire innings. Useful, skiddy fast medium pace bowler who swings the ball both ways. A solid fielder and grade A wicket keeper.
Neal Clark
Regular 1st XI wicketkeeper. Right hand batsman.
Nobbler is highly competitive and doesn’t like to lose. Enjoys a joke and a sing song in the shower. Took on the reigns of club secretary in 2005 and when not playing cricket, he can be found at Upton Park watching his beloved West Ham.
Joe Curtis
Blake Hall
Dave Hetherington
Right hand batsman.
Big Dave (Big David in polite company) is an integral member of the 1st XI who will laugh at anything and is always winding up his mate Micky Ayres. An explosive middle order batsman and an explosive personality to go with it. Takes four bottles into the shower so clearly doesn't wash and go and has an eye for the ladies.
Matt Jarvis
Andy Love
Right hand batsmen and very occasional right arm bowler.
When confident, he is one of the most technically correct batsman in the club. As a youngster he was known as promising Andy Love. Fantastic ground fielder with a terrific throwing arm. Susceptible to a duck or two but always supplies a quality tea. Also enjoys a sing song.
Pinal Patel
Pinal is a attacking middle order batsman and occaisional seam bowler signed by the twos in 2008. Bringing a laid back air of reassurance to the Ongar batting especially in nail biting run chases Pinal has fast become a highly valued member of the team.
